My Credentials: It is important that you know the credentials of anyone with whom you choose to work. My preparation and experience in addition to my enthusiasm are important information for you. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Missouri. I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC) certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). This credential requires me to take continuing education courses. I have a BA in Biology from Fontbonne University, an MA in Education from St. Louis University, and an MA in Counseling from Webster University. My internship was in the area of sexual trauma and domestic violence. I am an EMDRIA Approved Consultant in EMDR. EMDRIA is the EMDR International Association, and EMDR is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR is a way of reprocessing old bothersome or limiting experiences into a new more adaptive condition. To become a consultant I had to work with many clients who needed EMDR, attend supervision groups and have individual supervision. I take many continuing education courses in EMDR. I supervise other therapists who want to become Certified in EMDR and I have had an EMDR study group for six years. Please check out the website of the EMDR Institute at www.emdr.com. I belong to the American Counseling Association, the American Mental Health Counselors Association, the Missouri Mental Health Counselors Association, and the International Society for Mental Health Online.
